The Kolping Society of South Africa has decided to focus on the problem of unemployment in the youth and devised three programmes; the Work Opportunity Programme, which focuses on persons under the age of 30, the Kolping Training Centre in Kalksteenfontein, which focuses on the community in general and Sifunda Sonke.
Work Opportunity Programme (WOP)
In response to the high unemployment rate in South Africa, the primary purpose of the Kolping Work Opportunity Programme (WOP) is to prepare school leavers (aged 18-30 years), from marginalized and disadvantaged communities from the Western, Eastern and Southern Cape to enter the job market. We strive to do this through experiential learning, self reliance, viable livelihood and community development.
Sifunda Sonke is now situated at Kolping Training Centre (KTC) and it focuses on the office administration training and student support and counselling.
