Programmes

The Kolping Society of South Africa has decided to focus on the problem of unemployment in the youth and devised three programmes; the Work Opportunity Programme, which focuses on persons under the age of 30, the Kolping Training Centre in Kalksteenfontein, which focuses on the community in general and Sifunda Sonke.

Work Opportunity Programme (WOP)

In response to the high unemployment rate in South Africa, the primary purpose of the Kolping Work Opportunity Programme (WOP) is to prepare school leavers (aged 18-30 years), from marginalized and disadvantaged communities from the Western, Eastern and Southern Cape to enter the job market. We strive to do this through experiential learning, self reliance, viable livelihood and community development.

Kolping Training Centre (KTC)

Situated at Montana Primary School in Kalksteenfontein, the project caters to youth and unemployed people in the Community and the surrounding areas of Valhalla Park, Bishop Lavis, Bonteheuwel, Montana, Netreg, Golden Gate, Guguletu, etc.

Sifunda Sonke

Sifunda Sonke opened its doors in August 2006 and is situated in the Negatu Building in Bellville, Cape Town.  The centre provides computer training and office administrative training for students who have completed their life skills training with either WOP or KTC and who opts for a career in office administration.
