Kindergartens
The Centres established in Mossel Bay (St Blaize) and Orange Farm, Johannesburg, provide a safe environment for small children while their parents are at work. In addition the children also receive basic tuition in numeracy, literacy and life skills.
Kolping South Africa has taken over the running of this Nursery School and Daycare Centre in the area of D' Almeida, Mossel Bay . The community consists mainly of low-income families and this facility helps to provide a safe haven for small children while their parents are at work.
Orange Farm is a township, 50km south o0f Jhb and was established in 1989 after it was found that Soweto was already overcrowded. It has a population of +/- 750 000 inhabitants and is one of the poorest areas around Johannesburg, where poverty and crime is a daily occurrence and has an unemployment rate of 70%. Most affected are the children.
