“It is time to act, time for everyone to work according to one’s strength and means. Those who believe in God must believe also in people; and those who believe that Christianity is alive must infuse its spirit everywhere” (Fr Adolph Kolping 1813)

More about Kolping membership…

The Kolping Society aims to mobilise a diverse following (members) that are called to strengthen and practise their Faith by individually and collectively taking appropriate actions that build a better nation for all.

Membership of the Kolping Society of South Africa is made up of both individuals and nuclear families that have a passion to work together in family-like groups called Kolping families.  As a movement that has its roots within the Catholic Church and shares in the Church’s apostolic mission, most Kolping families are organized around the parishes within the Catholic Church Structures.

Building families – building communities

At the most basic and local level, each Kolping family acts as a catalyst for personal development that encompasses all the aspects of Christian living (prayer, family, work, community).

When all the families come together as one big, united family – as one organisation, they act as a catalyst for social change on a much larger scale.

Embracing diversity – building unity

Membership is not restricted to any age, race or life-style. The Kolping society welcomes both Catholics and Christians of other denominations that accept & support the ideals and objectives of the Society.  Current Kolping families are found in rural and urban; poor and rich and formal and informal communities. There are both young and old members and membership is open to individuals and families.
